On August 3, 2007 Courtenay and Cumberland Paramedics proudly unveiled the new Volunteer Bike Squad Program. The purpose of this team is two fold, #1 - to volunteer First Aid Services at non profit community events throughout the area and #2 - Promote the use of helmets and other safety equipment to youth of the Community through education and reward campaigns.
The team owns two Norco Storm Mountain Bikes fully equipped with lifesaving equipment such as a Defibrillator, as well as other various modules including Airway, IV/Meds, Trauma and Diagnostics kit. In addition, MD Ambulance donated a used 4X4 Crestline Ambulance to use as a Staging area and Mobile First Aid Post.
